Well Child Exams
From birth through adolescence, regular check-ups are important to track growth and development, ensuring your child is thriving. We love building lasting relationships over the years as you come for regular visits. See our typical schedule for these visits.
Immunizations
Wildwood Pediatrics requires all patients to adhere to the AAP-recommended immunization schedule, except in rare instances of medical contraindications to an immunization. Our caring team explains each step and makes sure your child is as comfortable as possible during their shots. Same-day Sick Appointments
At Wildwood, we know how important it is to have availability for your child to be seen quickly when they are sick or injured. Therefore, we strive to keep same-day sick visits available for our patients. Timely, compassionate support and treatment when your child isn’t feeling well is our priority.
After-hours Urgent Calls
Dr. Palfreeman is available to address your urgent medical issues that cannot wait until the next business day. As a parent himself, he knows that kids usually don’t wait until business hours to get sick or injured! If you are an established patient, call our office at (816) 287-8282 and leave a message on our urgent line. Dr. P will return your call as soon as possible.
Rapid Testing
We know how important it is to get timely, accurate diagnoses so that our patients can receive the crucial care they need as quickly as possible. We offer on-site rapid RSV, Strep, Influenza, Covid, UTI testing, and more. Learn more here.
Prenatal Visits
Choosing the right pediatrician for your growing family is very important. Dr. Palfreeman is happy to meet with expectant parents during pregnancy to ensure Wildwood Pediatrics is the right choice to care for your baby. These prenatal “meet the doctor” visits are offered at no cost to you. We want you to feel right at home here before you bring your new baby for visits. To learn more click here.
Circumcisions
Dr. Palfreeman provides in-office circumcisions for newborns and spends time educating and counseling with parents considering this option. With a focus on the comfort of the baby, Dr. Palfreeman ensures meticulous care is taken during the procedure, and provides post-procedure care guidance. More information about circumcisions here.
Newborn Visits
Routine visits for your baby are very important. Typical well visits occur when your child is 3-5 days old, 2 weeks, 1 month, 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months, 15 months, 18 months, and then annually after that. Dr. Palfreeman values this continuity of care and building trusting relationships with his new patients and families. More information about newborn visits here.
Sports Physicals
Physical exams and forms are necessary for participation in many sports, clubs, camps, or schools. These can be performed during annual well visits or you can make a specific appointment for a sports physical. More information about physicals here.
Asthma and Allergy Care
Allergies and asthma are common childhood issues, but can get in the way of everyday activity, or be dangerous if not properly managed. We provide comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and management plans. With a focus on education and support for parents and caregivers, we seek to proactively manage these issues to improve your child’s quality of life and help your child thrive despite these challenges. ADHD/Behavioral Health
We understand the complexity of ADHD and behavioral issues, and treat each patient individually, because no two children are the same. We will assess your child and if necessary, work together to create a personalized treatment plan that you feel will help your child succeed. This may range from support and education to medication management, therapy, or behavioral interventions. Our team at Wildwood Pediatrics approaches mental health issues with compassion, understanding, and proactive approaches. Acute Injuries
We always want to keep our patients out of urgent cares and the hospital whenever possible. Dr. Palfreeman can help assess and treat many injuries, including lacerations and nursemaid elbow reductions, in the comfort and convenience of our cozy office. Hospital Care – Children’s Mercy
If your child needs further evaluation by a pediatric specialist or requires emergent care, Dr. Palfreeman will communicate and coordinate care with the Children’s Mercy physicians caring for your child.
