Immunization and
Antibiotics Policy

Immunizations save lives. At Wildwood Pediatrics, we know that choosing to vaccinate is a deeply personal decision. We require all patients to adhere to the immunization schedule recommended by the CDC, except in rare instances of medical contraindications to an immunization. We welcome the discussion of all concerns, and we want parents to feel heard, informed, and comfortable with any decision. We ultimately believe that vaccines are safe and effective in preventing deadly and debilitating diseases. Furthermore, we also have a duty to protect our community and patients who are unable to receive certain vaccines (either due to young age or due to being immunocompromised, etc). Patient families who do not intend to vaccinate will need to find a different pediatrician.

Antibiotics must be used responsibly. We strongly believe in using antibiotics responsibly, and endeavor to only use them when a bacterial infection is present. We do not prescribe them without thorough examination and any necessary testing. Antibiotics do not help in instances of viral infections, and may cause unintended side effects when overused or used inappropriately.
